The late Charles Ong’ondo Were, the former Member of Parliament for Kasipul, will be laid to rest today, May 9, 2025, in his home county of Homa Bay, Kenya.
On May 8, 2025, Were’s body was received in Homa Bay, with residents turning out in large numbers to pay their respects as the convoy, led by Governor Wanga, made its way to Oyugis. The burial is set to take place at Karabok Secondary School in Homa Bay, where a significant gathering is expected to bid farewell to the fallen leader.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has played a central role in organizing the funeral. The ODM party established a funeral committee chaired by MP Peter Kaluma, with Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, MPs Beatrice Elachi, Tom Kajwang, James Nyikal, and others coordinating various aspects of the ceremony.
