Last week, we asked who you would vote for in the upcoming Kasipul by-elections. We sampled eight potential candidates for the poll. These are Newton Ogada, George Otieno (Ajo Mbuta), Odoyo Owidi, Boyd Were, Rateng’ Okoth Kotiende, Phillip Aroko, Rober Riaga (Money Bior), and Kwame Otiende.
The opinion poll has given us a good idea of where things stand ahead of the Kasipul by-election — and it’s clear this will be a hotly contested race. Out of 1,228 people who took part in the survey, no single candidate is dominating, but three have pulled ahead of the rest.
Phillip Aroko emerged as the winner with a total of 396 votes, which is about 32% of the total. He’s followed by Rober Riaga, also known as Money Bior, who got 296 votes (24%), and Kwame Otiende, who received 260 votes (21%). These three are clearly the front-runners and are neck-and-neck going into the final stretch.
Boyd Were came in fourth with 131 votes, and Newton Ogada followed with 107. The other candidates — Rateng’ Okoth Kotiende (18 votes), George Otieno a.k.a. Ajo Mbuta (10 votes), and Odoyo Owidi (10 votes) — received much less support.

What This Means for Kasipul
This outcome reveals that the Kasipul electorate is divided but clearly prefers a few leading candidates. At the same time, it shows that voters in Kasipul are looking for change and that no single candidate has the seat locked down. While Phillip Aroko is in the lead, he doesn’t have a majority, which means the race is still wide open.
Riaga and Otiende are also doing very well and could easily catch up or even take the lead if they can win over more voters. All three top candidates are bringing fresh energy to the race, and it looks like many people are paying attention to what they have to say.
The by-election is crucial as it follows the tragic assassination of the former MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, a loyal ODM member, which has heightened political tensions in the area. With the election coming soon, what really matters now is how these candidates connect with voters on the ground. Whoever listens, shows up, and addresses real community issues is likely to have the edge.
In short, the people of Kasipul have options — and their choice could mark the beginning of a new chapter in local leadership.
